We are past the three-quarters mark of the NFL season and there are just four games left, so it’s time for another mock draft. This time we concentrate on the top half of the first round.

1

San Francisco 49ers

Quinnen Williams

DT

Alabama

Analysis: I think the best thing for the Niners is to trade down for a team that wants a D-lineman at or near the top of the draft.

2

Oakland Raiders

Nick Bosa

DE

Ohio State

Analysis: Another Bosa could be playing in the AFC West as the Raiders try and rebuild the pass rush.

3

New York Jets

Clelin Ferrell

Edge

Clemson

Analysis: The Jets have been trying to solve their pass-rush woes for almost a decade. Ferrell is the answer.

4

Arizona Cardinals

Ed Oliver

DT

Houston

Analysis: I’d prefer an offensive tackle and would consider a cornerback, but Oliver is great value.

5

Detroit Lions

Greedy Williams

CB

LSU

Analysis: The Lions need another cornerback, and Williams offers big-time potential.

6

New York Giants

Justin Herbert

QB

Oregon

Analysis: If Herbert enters the draft, this is a no-brainer for the Giants.

7

Cleveland Browns

Christian Wilkins

DL

Clemson

Analysis: The playmaking defensive tackle Cleveland needs.

8

Atlanta Falcons

Raekwon Davis

DT

Alabama

Analysis: They missed out on the defensive tackle from Alabama they coveted last April. Deadrin Senat’s progress looms large here.

9

Jacksonville Jaguars

A.J. Brown

WR

Mississippi

Analysis: A playmaking receiver with size is needed.

10

Tampa Bay Bucs

Greg Little

OT

Mississippi

Analysis: Little offers an upgrade at right tackle.

11

Buffalo Bills

Rashan Gary

DE

Michigan

Analysis: Gary is great value, has a terrific upside and adds impact and youth to the Bills defensive line.

12

Cincinnati Bengals

Jaylon Ferguson

DE

Louisiana Tech

Analysis: The Bengals need help on both sides of the ball and with Ferguson they get a player that can cause an impact on defense.

13

Miami Dolphins

Devin White

LB

LSU

Analysis: White is more explosive and consistent than starter Raekwon McMillan.

14

Green Bay Packers

Josh Allen

OLB

Kentucky

Analysis: Kyler Fackrell is in the midst of a breakout season, but 32-year-old Clay Matthews will be a free agent at the end of the season.

15

Philadelphia Eagles

Cody Ford

OL

Oklahoma

Analysis: It’s a name out of left field, but it’s also someone I mentioned as a potential pick for the Eagles during the Journey to the Draft podcast with Fran Duffy.

16

Carolina Panthers

Deionte Thompson

S

Alabama

Analysis: As I first reported during The Draft Analysts podcast, expect the Panthers to go hard after safeties early in the 2019 NFL Draft.
