Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-ACC in each of those three seasons. Earned a Senior Bowl invitation after posting 45 tackles (five for loss), two sacks and 12 pass breakups in 2017. Made 66 tackles (3.5 for loss) with two forced fumbles and broke up 11 passes as a junior. Tallied 62 tackles with four interceptions and 14 PBUs in 2015. Intercepted two passes and made 26 tackles with four pass breakups as a true freshman.
Pos:
Aggressive defensive back best facing the action. Effectively reads and diagnoses plays, shows a closing burst and has a nice move to the throw. Does a good job reading receivers’ eyes and gets his head back around to locate passes in the air. Physical, gives effort defending the run and works hard.
Neg:
Speed is a major concern. Consistently beaten downfield in foot races. Slow out of his transition and shows average quickness.
Analysis:
Entering the season, scouts rated Stewart as one of the highest-rated cornerbacks from the senior class, and he showed flashes of that potential throughout his senior campaign. He plays significantly slower than his 40 time but could be effective in a zone system where he’s not asked to cover a large amount of area.
