Three-year starter who threw for 7,287 yards, 36 touchdowns and 32 interceptions during his four-year career at Minnesota. Ran for an additional 1,495 yards and 33 scores. Academic All-Big Ten as both a junior and a senior.
Nice-sized college quarterback with an inconsistent game. Stands in the pocket, buys as much time as necessary and gets smashed by opponents in order to get the ball away. Scans the field, finds the open wideout and throws with an over-the-top delivery. Keeps his eyes downfield and works to make positive plays. Puts air under deep throws and delivers passes on solid corner and fade patterns.
Not a quarterback who will pick up yardage with his legs or show the ability to elude the rush. Deep passes tend to hang in the air. All over the place with throws. Has a very poor touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Leidner did a competent job leading the Gophers since his sophomore season and should get practice-squad consideration to further develop his next-level ability.
