Bio:
Three-year starter who led the team in tackles in each of those seasons and earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2016 and 2017. Earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl and made 145 tackles (9.5 for loss) with five sacks and four pass breakups in 2017. Posted 134 tackles (10 for loss) and led the team with 6.5 sacks and five forced fumbles while breaking up seven passes as a junior. Named Second Team All-ACC and led Virginia with 117 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks while tying for the team lead with three forced fumbles in 2015.
Pos:
Explosive run-defending linebacker best in the box or up the field. Instinctive, breaks down well and quickly locates the ball carrier. Holds his ground against blocks, plays with a nasty attitude and fires up the field to defend the run. Quick, explosive and sells out on the blitz. Solid in pursuit, takes proper angles to the action and moves well laterally. Displays outstanding hand technique to protect himself and disengage from blocks.
Neg:
Really doesn’t look like a quick-twitch athlete. Stiff pedaling in reverse. Average ball skills in coverage. Not a strong wrap-up tackler.
Analysis:
Kiser was consistently productive throughout his Virginia career and is a stout run-defending linebacker with a one-dimensional game. He lacks great upside but could be a good starting linebacker on the inside of a 3-4 defense.
