Bio:
Two-year starter at Notre Dame who transferred to IUP after getting kicked out of Notre Dame following an arrest for possession of marijuana and an unlicensed handgun. Made 78 tackles with four interceptions and nine pass breakups as a senior. Did not play during the 2016 season. Posted 64 tackles, one sack and one interception in 2015. Recorded 68 tackles and one interception as a sophomore.
Pos:
Former Notre Dame safety and one-time highly rated prospect whose game has been in a tailspin. Looks the part, shows tremendous quickness and fires up field to defend the run. Breaks down well, effectively uses his hands and wraps up tackling. Keeps the action in front of him and displays speed moving laterally and decent range in center field. Fluid pedaling in reverse, smooth flipping his hips in transition and possesses a closing burst. Quarterbacks the secondary and effectively makes the defensive calls.
Neg:
Seems to meander around the field and does not play with urgency. Often slow to react and late to read the action. Looks the part but does not always play to it.
Analysis:
Redfield was a highly rated prospect who was stamped as a potential first-round safety entering the 2016 season, but his game has gone in reverse. He possesses the size and skill to play at the next level but must quickly turn up the intensity and play to his ability.
