Bio:
Part-time starter as a junior before breaking into the starting lineup in 2016. Earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2016, making 27 tackles (2.5 for loss) with one sack. Posted career numbers of 54 tackles (4.5 for loss) and three sacks.
Pos:
Tall, nasty lineman coming off a career season. Plays with a relentless style, explodes off the snap and tough to handle. Instinctive, effectively reads the action and works hard to make plays on the ball. Strong, holds the point against blocks or breaks through them to make the play. Gives effort in all areas and plays through the whistle.
Neg:
Lacks great lateral speed and more of a straight-line defender. Stiff, effective in just a small area and struggles getting off blocks once engaged at the point.
Analysis:
Godin really improved his game last season and comes with size as well as growth potential. More of a gap occupier rather than a playmaker, he offers potential as a rotational tackle in a four-man line.
