Bio:
First-year starter who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and led the conference with 11.5 sacks in 2017, making 64 tackles (15 for loss) and matching the team lead with three forced fumbles. Posted 29 tackles (eight for loss), six sacks and two forced fumbles as a junior. Spent the 2015 season at Long Beach Community College after he was dismissed from Boise State in December 2014 for a violation of team rules. Recorded 12 tackles (three for loss) and three sacks as a redshirt freshman with the Broncos.
Pos:
Junior-college transfer who comes off a tremendous senior campaign. Long, fluid and displays athleticism. Fluid if asked to twist or stunt, breaks down well and effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Forceful up the field, gets a lot of momentum going and gives effort. Quickly moves in every direction, shows the ability to get out in space and make plays on the ball carrier. Consistently penetrates the line of scrimmage and disrupts the action.
Neg:
Thin and struggles to handle blocks. Evidently not a hard worker off the field. Has a small body of work.
Analysis:
Boesen elevated his game last season after he moved into the starting lineup and could be a situational pass rusher at the next level if he’s willing to work off the field.
