Bio:
Four-year starter who made 51 consecutive starts for the Wolverines and received an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors as a center in 2016 and as a left tackle in 2017. Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten as a sophomore, when he started every game at left tackle.
Pos:
Tough, durable offensive lineman with a versatile game. Smart, plays with excellent leverage and pad level and displays a good feel for blocking. Fundamentally sound, quickly gets his hands into defenders and stays square. Fires off the snap, gets leverage on opponents and keeps his feet moving. Shows the ability to adjust and knock pass rushers from their angles of attack. Jolts defenders with explosive hand punch. Fluid moving on his feet, agile and gets out to the second level. Redirects to linebackers and takes them from the action.
Neg:
Lacks dominant power in his lower body and struggles finishing blocks. Must improve his shotgun snaps.
Analysis:
Cole spent a good part of his career at left tackle but showed plenty of next-level ability when he lined up at center as a sophomore. He played the position well at the Senior Bowl and has starting potential at the next level once he physically matures and improves his playing strength.
