Led the team with 10 rushing touchdowns and carried 116 times for 891 yards while making 28 receptions for 376 yards and three TDs as a junior. Named Second Team All-SWAC and rushed 111 times for 876 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns while adding four TD receptions in 2015. Moved from wide receiver to running back after his freshman season.
Pos:
Quick-footed and creative ball carrier who’s productive in a variety of roles. Displays terrific vision as a ball carrier, runs behind his pads and effectively uses blocks. Easily changes direction and alters the angle of runs and loses little momentum when he cuts back against the grain. Feisty and works runs. Bounces around piles and makes defenders miss. Improvises when plays break down. Terrific pass catcher out of the backfield who picks up yardage after the catch. Productive as a return specialist.
Neg:
Not a big or stout ball carrier and has the ball jarred loose by big hits. Easily brought down at the point by a single defender. Lack of height may make him hard to find as a receiver.
Analysis:
Carter is a triple-threat skill player who can contribute as a ball carrier, pass catcher and return specialist. He lacks top size and speed numbers but is a terrific football player who produces any time he’s asked to handle the ball.
