Bio:
Three-year starter who led Ole Miss in tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles in all four of his seasons with the Rebels. Earned Second Team All-SEC honors and made 45 tackles (11 for loss) with 7.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 2017 to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Posted 53 tackles (11 for loss), seven sacks and three forced fumbles as a junior. Named Second Team All-SEC and recorded 43 tackles (16.5 for loss), 10 sacks and three forced fumbles in 2015. Started four games as a true freshman and made 31 tackles (nine for loss) with 7.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Pos:
Underrated linebacker who shows himself to be a three-down defender. Breaks down well and plays with excellent balance and body control. Aggressive, does not back down from a challenge and displays speed in every direction of the field. Fluid, fast out to the flanks and has an explosive closing burst as a pass rusher. Quick with his hands, fires off the snap out of a three-point stance and battles bigger opponents.
Neg:
Lacks bulk and gets handled at the point. Flashed skill in space but was primarily used at defensive end. Average size for a 3-4 outside linebacker.
Analysis:
Haynes was a solid college player who had a terrific Senior Bowl and turned in a tremendous combine workout. He’s an underrated linebacker who needs to improve his play in coverage but has starting potential down the road.
