Bio:
Four-year starter named Second Team All-Sun Belt in each of his final three seasons with the Mountaineers. Rushed for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns on 158 carries in 2016 despite being limited to nine games by a left leg injury. Set a career high with 1,423 rushing yards as a junior, scoring nine touchdowns on 243 carries. Led the Sun Belt with 19 rushing touchdowns in 2014 and rushed 255 times for 1,415 yards. Set school freshman records with 1,250 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns in 2013
Pos:
Creative ball carrier who is also effective catching the ball out of the backfield. Plays faster than his 40 time, displays a terrific burst and beats defenders into the open field. Smooth cutting back against the grain, weaves through traffic and shows the ability to make defenders miss. Patient, effectively follows blocks and works runs. Consistent hands-catcher with some run-after-catch ability.
Neg:
Not a big-bodied ball carrier and is easily brought down at the point of attack or knocked off balance by the initial hit. Lacks true perimeter speed. Must pick up his blocking intensity.
Analysis:
Cox is a well-rounded back who projects as a situational runner and third-down specialist at the next level.
