Bio:
Two-year starter who was named Division II Player of the Year and led the Lone Star Conference with a 70.6 percent completion rate, 4,999 passing yards and 46 touchdowns in 2017. Earned First Team All-LSC honors and paced the conference with 3,326 passing yards and 32 touchdown passes while completing 62.7 percent of his passes as a junior. Redshirted the 2015 season after transferring from Southwestern University, where he started one season and completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 1,846 yards, 18 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Pos:
Productive two-year starter best as a short and intermediate passer. Patient, keeps his eyes downfield and makes good choices. Quickly locates the open wideout, displays timing on throws and puts touch on passes when necessary. Accurate and takes what is given to him. Does not make poor decisions and will throw the ball away rather than make the bad pass. Effectively commands and controls the offense.
Neg:
Lacks a next-level arm, gets minimal speed on throws and cannot drive the deep ball. Limited ability to pick up yardage with his legs.
Analysis:
Perez was very productive at the small-school level the past two seasons but is more of a dink-and-dunk game manager with very little starting potential for the next level.
