Bio:
Four-year starter named First Team All-Conference USA in 2016 after making 65 tackles (13.5 for loss) with three sacks and 10 quarterback hurries. Earned Second Team All-Conference USA as a junior, posting 62 tackles (14.5 for loss) with 2.5 sacks. Racked up a team-leading 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and 10 hurries in 2014 while adding 48 tackles. Recorded 42 tackles (9.5 for loss), 2.5 sacks and 10 hurries as a true freshman.
Pos:
Physically imposing defensive line prospect who needs a lot of work on his game. Relentless, moves well laterally and slides off blocks. Explosive at the point, fires off the snap with a great first step and plays with a nasty attitude. Focused on by opponents yet easily holds the point. Keeps his feet moving, displays solid hand technique and fights throughout the action. Has a closing burst to the ball handler.
Neg:
Does not play with proper leverage or pad level. At times easily knocked from his angle of attack by a single blocker. Average pass rusher.
Analysis:
Ogunjobi did a great job for the developing Charlotte program and has a physical stature that’s NFL ready yet needs to improve his mechanics and develop his game before he’ll be a consistent starter on Sunday.
