Pos:
Highly celebrated signal caller who will be a major project at the next level. Remains poised under the rush, keeps his eyes downfield and consistently locates the open wideout. Displays great patience in the pocket and stays with the play as long as possible. Incredibly elusive, easily avoids defenders and buys as much time as necessary. Game-breaking ball carrier when he takes off up the field. Sells ball fakes, effectively sets up screen passes and knows where his receivers are on the field. Displays timing on throws and has a quick release and a compact throwing motion. Relatively accurate and does not make receivers work hard to come away with the reception. Consistently goes to secondary targets. Generally makes proper decisions.
Neg:
Often makes wide-open receivers wait for the pass downfield and underthrows deep targets. Must improve his pass placement and learn to throw receivers free. Small and lacks pocket stature. Has a thin body of work.
Analysis:
Murray took the college football world by storm last season and turned in an incredibly productive campaign to win the Heisman Trophy. He has the skills to get excited about, but there are many concerns about his game. His ability to create yardage with his feet and buy time in the pocket gives him an incredible advantage, but he must start to develop into a passer rather than an athlete. Murray comes with a huge upside but must have a specific system designed around him to get the most from his ability.
