Bio:
First-year starter who led the team with 96 tackles (four for loss) as a senior. Transferred to East Carolina after graduating from Clemson prior to the 2017 season. Redshirted in 2015 after tearing his ACL in the preseason, returning to make 14 tackles for the Tigers as a junior. Started six games in 2014, making 34 tackles (3.5 for loss) and intercepting two passes.
Pos:
Adequately sized safety coming off a career campaign. Quick to recognize and diagnose the action, works well with cornerbacks and effectively tracks the pass in the air. Constantly around the action, plays smart, tough football and shows solid open-field tackling ability. Hard-hitting, explosive and plays with great quickness.
Neg:
Best playing downhill and lacks pursuit speed out to the flanks. Slow out of his transition playing over the slot receiver. Has a history of knee injuries.
Analysis:
Wiggins was not on the scouting radar entering the season but played incredibly well in 2017 and has enough ability to get consideration as a zone safety if he passes team medicals.
