Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors in 2016 after leading the team with 110 tackles (10.5 for loss) and recording three sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception. Named Honorable Mention All-Mountain West as a junior, ranking fifth in the conference with 101 tackles, including 10.5 for loss, and recording three sacks and one interception. Started one game in 2014, totaling 22 tackles (2.5 for loss) and one sack.
Pos:
Hard-working inside linebacker prospect with limited size and speed. Instinctive, remains disciplined with assignments and does not bite on ball fakes. Scrapes well laterally, shows fluidity getting out to the sidelines in pursuit and wraps up tackling. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself and fights hard to make plays.
Neg:
Average speed in a straight line as well as laterally. Struggles backpedaling and must turn then run downfield with opponents. Does more chasing than actual playmaking.
Analysis:
Davis was a consistent defender on the college level and offers possibilities as a backup on the inside of a 3-4 alignment, but he’s a prospect who must produce on special teams to make it at the next level.
