Three-year starter on the right side of the Longhorns offensive line. Made all 10 of his starts at right guard in 2016 and earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors after starting the first eight games of 2015 at right tackle before moving inside for two starts. Started 10 games at right guard and three at right tackle in 2014.
Nice-sized college tackle who projects to guard at the next level. Strong, anchors in pass protection and plays with a nasty attitude. Explosive at the point, pancakes opponents and works to finish blocks. Large enough to engulf defenders and turn them from the action, which opens up running lanes.
Shows stiffness in his game and falls off blocks. Does not block with proper leverage, gets tall and overextends. Lacks footwork and lateral blocking range.
Perkins offers terrific size and strength to play at the next level but must learn to block with proper pad level on a consistent basis to make an NFL roster.
