Three-year starter who earned Third Team All-American honors in 2016, making 91 tackles (six for loss) with one sack and four pass breakups. Ranked second on the team with 84 tackles (10 for loss) in 2015, adding 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Earned the starting middle linebacker role seven games into his sophomore season in 2014, posting 77 tackles (7.5 for loss), two sacks, one interception and three pass breakups.
Tough, productive middle linebacker coming off a knee injury. Instinctive, flows laterally to the play and stacks well against the run. Effectively uses his hands to shed blocks, fires up the field filling gaps and sells out to make the tackle. Quickly gets to the sidelines pursuing the action, has a burst to the ball and fires his shoulders through ball carriers. Breaks down well and wraps up tackling.
Plays faster than his 40 time but lacks long speed and true pursuit speed. Marginal skill in man-coverage situations. Must rebound from a late-season knee injury.
Beckwith was solid second-day consideration before his injury and is now likely to fall into the later rounds where he’ll be a steal. May have to redshirt 2017 but could eventually break into a starting lineup on the inside of a 3-4 alignment.
