Four-year starter who was awarded the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2016. Was named STATS, AFCA and Hero Sports First Team All-America as well as an AP and College Sports Madness Second Team All-American as a senior. Received All-SoCon honors after all four seasons with Tennessee-Chattanooga. Received All-America honors from the AFCA, AP, STATS and College Sports Madness after his junior year. Received an invite to the NFL Combine. Finished his career with 132 tackles, 31 sacks, one interception, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Pos:
Athletic small-school pass rusher who consistently disrupts the action. Fires off the snap, bends his knees and plays with excellent leverage. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself and easily changes direction or redirects to the ball carrier. Quickly locates the ball, easily adjusts off blocks and stays balanced to get to the action. Bends off the edge, fights with his hands throughout the play and exploits opponents. Fast up the field and quick to close.
Neg:
Easily disrupted by the first block or knocked from his angle of attack. Lacks bulk, struggles facing off against larger opponents and gets manhandled by bigger tackles.
Analysis:
Davis is a terrific pass rusher with the size and speed for the next level. He’s a mid-to-late round selection who will be brought onto the field on third-down passing situations and asked to attack the quarterback.
