Bio:
Four-year starter who earned Third Team FCS All-America honors and tied for the Ivy League lead with 14 touchdown receptions in 2017 to earn invitations to the Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. Left Penn as the school’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Led the team with 81 receptions and 1,083 receiving yards as a senior. Named First Team All-Ivy and led the conference in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2015 and 2016. Made 89 catches for 1,115 yards and eight TDs as a junior. Caught 74 passes for 1,082 yards and nine scores as a sophomore. Set Penn freshman records with 42 receptions and 497 receiving yards and scored two TDs in 2014.
Pos:
Nice-sized receiver with dependable hands. Quick and fluid releasing off the line of scrimmage, fires into breaks and uses his frame to shield away defenders. Adjusts to errant throws, looks the ball into his hands and shows focus and concentration. Resilient, tough and keeps plays in bounds after the catch. Competes to come away with contested grabs and makes difficult catches in a crowd. Extends and makes receptions away from his frame. Gives effort as a blocker everywhere on the field.
Neg:
Plays to one speed and does not show a deep burst. Has shown inconsistency the past two years.
Analysis:
Watson has next-level size and speed and did well in the postseason against top competition at the Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. He has enough skill and upside to get late-round consideration and make a roster as a fifth receiver.
