Bio:
Three-year starter who played both nickel back and outside corner. Made 35 tackles (3.5 for loss) with one sack and four pass breakups in 2016. Recorded 48 tackles with three interceptions and six PBUs as a junior. Sophomore totals include 37 tackles (three for loss), one sack and seven pass breakups. Started four games as a freshman and finished with 25 tackles.
Pos:
Small but competitive defensive back who flashes ball skills. Plays faster than his 40 time, displays a terrific closing burst and works hard. Reads the receiver’s eyes then gets his head back around and locates the pass in the air. Shows ability placed over the slot receiver.
Neg:
Slow transitioning off the line. Struggles in downfield coverage and is constantly playing catch-up.
Analysis:
Thomas was a solid college cornerback who lacks the measurables for the next level. He could lineup as a dime defender if he proves his worth on special teams this summer.
