Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors and tied for the conference lead with five interceptions while making 99 tackles (6.5 for loss) with six pass breakups as a junior. Named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 and tied for the team lead with seven PBUs while making 57 tackles (four for loss) in 2016. Recorded 23 tackles and one interception as a true freshman.
Pos:
Physically gifted defensive back with an unpolished game. Physical, explosive at the point and competes to make plays. Fires up the field in run defense, wraps up tackling and brings opponents down at the point of attack. Solid open-field tackler. Explosive hitter who separates the ball from ball carriers. Quick to the action, effective playing downhill and has a closing burst.
Neg:
Inefficient and doesn’t always take proper angles to the action. Late to react in coverage, cannot stay with receivers out of breaks and does too much face guarding in man-coverage situations.
Analysis:
Reid possesses the size, speed and physical nature for the next level but must improve his play in coverage. He comes with great upside but is not the sure thing many make him out to be.
