Bio:
Three-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors in each of those seasons. Finished third in the conference with 1,311 rushing yards and scored 11 touchdowns on 287 carries while catching 44 passes for 276 yards in 2017. Led the Big Ten with 1,524 rushing yards on 298 carries and rushed for 15 touchdowns with 35 receptions and 219 receiving yards as a junior. Recorded a conference-high 312 carries for 1,418 yards and five TDs and made 21 receptions for 162 yards in 2015. Earned five starts as a true freshman and led Northwestern with 245 carries, 1,187 rushing yards and 10 scores while making 22 receptions for 201 yards and one score.
Pos:
Productive three-down running back with marginal athleticism. Instinctive, runs with good vision and finds open lanes. Quickly turns upfield, keeps plays in bounds and works runs. Multi-cut ball carrier who shows the ability to avoid piles and make defenders miss. Effective open-field runner. Helps the quarterback sell ball fakes, presents himself as a solid short-range target out of the backfield and does well with his blocking assignments.
Neg:
Displays little burst through the hole and has minimal speed. Lacks the ability to turn the perimeter. Gets in trouble when he tries to run east and west.
Analysis:
Jackson is efficient in all areas of his position but not spectacular in any single aspect. He lacks the great quickness and speed for the next level, but his ability to produce on the ground and through the air and hold up as a blocker could help him grasp a spot on the depth chart.
