Bio:
One-year starter who split carries in his final two seasons. Rushed 110 times for 607 yards and two touchdowns in 2016 after racking up 902 yards on 169 carries with seven scores in 2015 and earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors. Carried 129 times for 595 yards and four scores as a sophomore. Caught 46 passes for 400 yards and two scores over his four years at USC.
Pos:
Underrated ball carrier with a versatile game. Quick with a burst, fires through the open lanes and works runs. Effectively follows blocks, makes defenders miss and beats opponents into the open. Keeps his feet moving, breaks arm tackles and picks up yardage off initial contact. Terrific pass catcher out of the backfield with the ability to adjust to the errant throw and make the reception in stride. Works runs and keeps the play in bounds after the catch trying to pick up positive yardage. Possesses the speed and agility necessary to turn the corner.
Neg:
Average next-level size and will be unable to take a pounding on an every-down basis. Never nailed down the starting job at USC.
Analysis:
Davis did well as a rotational back at USC and is a creative ball carrier as well as a legitimate pass-catching threat out of the backfield. He has the makings of a third-down back or situational runner on Sundays.
