Bio:
First-year starter who made 40 tackles (10 for loss). Missed most of the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to left knee issues -- a torn ACL in 2016 and arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus in 2015.
Pos:
Athletic defensive line prospect with tremendous upside. Plays with proper fundamentals, moves well and really gets after it. Displays terrific first-step quickness, fires through gaps and gets behind the line of scrimmage to disrupt the action. Bends his knees, plays with leverage and effectively uses his hands. Slices through blocks, displays good change of direction and fluidly moves laterally in pursuit of the action.
Neg:
Outsized at the point by larger opponents. Must improve his playing strength, as he’s easily tied up by a single blocker. Turned in just one season of real production for Temple.
Analysis:
Taylor was not on the scouting radar entering the season, but after a tremendous senior campaign he’s poised to be a late-round choice. He possesses the athleticism, growth potential and upside to be used as a three-technique tackle or a two-gap end as he physically matures over time and improves his playing strength.
