Three-year starter who missed the first three games of his senior season due to back, hamstring and quad injuries. Named First Team All-American as both a junior and a senior and leaves Michigan as its career leader in pass breakups with 45. Made 133 tackles (8.5 for loss) with six interceptions in his career.
Skilled cornerback with average size. Plays with great awareness, instincts and ball skills. Quick flipping his hips transitioning off the line, mixes it up with opponents throughout the route and displays a sense of timing. Stays on the receivers hip out of breaks, tracks the pass in the air and does not back down to a challenge. Has a burst to the ball out of his plant and a closing burst. Gives effort defending the run and wraps up tackling.
Short and overmatched by tall the receivers. Works to get a jam in at the snap yet does not slow the receivers release from the line. Swallowed up by blocks defending the run.
Lewis rates highly in the areas of football ability and cover skills yet has size limitations. Though he may never start on Sunday he has more than enough ability to line up in nickel packages.
