Bio:
Three-year starter who made 50 tackles with one interception, one forced fumble and one pass breakup in 2017. Tied for the team lead with two interceptions and posted 63 tackles, one forced fumble and four PBUs as a junior. Matched the team lead with two INTs and recorded 52 tackles, one forced fumble and three pass breakups in 2015. Started two games as a true freshman and made 12 tackles with one pass breakup.
Pos:
Physical run-defending safety best playing downhill. Stays with assignments, keeps the action in front of him and does not overpursue plays. Fires up the field to defend the run and squares into tackles. Forceful, defeats blocks and makes a lot of positive plays on the ball. Physically beats down opponents to defend the throw.
Neg:
Struggles to make plays in reverse and must improve his backpedal. Lacks great range.
Analysis:
Graded as a potential sixth-round choice before the season, Liddell comes off a somewhat disappointing senior campaign. He lacks ball skills for the next level but has the size and temperament to back up as a traditional strong safety.
