Underrated safety with a complete game. Instinctive and quickly closes to the action. Breaks down well, effectively uses his hands and aggressively defends the run. Quick up the field and wraps up tackling. Fast moving laterally, displays range and quickly gets outside to the flanks to make plays. Fluid pedaling in reverse and shows solid ball skills. Smooth changing direction, effectively picks up receivers or tight ends over the middle and mixes it up with opponents.
Occasionally slow locating the ball and face-guards opponents. May struggle in man-coverage situations.
Jones consistently produced for three years at North Carolina State and moves towards the draft as one of the more underrated safeties. He possesses the size and skill to line up at either free or strong safety and plays with a special-teams mentality.
