Bio:
Junior college transfer who started his final season at USC. Named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 and made 34 tackles (eight for loss) with six sacks and one forced fumble as a senior. Posted 21 tackles and one sack in 2016 after transferring from junior college.
Pos:
Explosive defensive tackle prospect who can be tough to handle. Fires off the snap, flashes power and rarely gets knocked off his feet. Effectively fights with his hands, plays with proper pad level and holds his ground against blocks. Can twist and stunt and moves well about the field. Strong enough to collapse the pocket and keeps his feet and hands active.
Neg:
Struggles to get off blocks once engaged at the point of attack. Lack of height will be an issue. Does not show the maneuverability you want in a three-technique tackle.
Analysis:
Fatu was not rated by scouts entering the season but showed consistent progress the past two years. Unlikely to be selected in the draft, he will be a free-agent prospect who can make a roster as a backup tackle in a four-man line.
