Pos:
Undersized, explosive run-and-chase linebacker who makes plays in every direction of the field. Three-year starter at Kentucky who posted a career-best 109 tackles as a sophomore in 2016. Fluid, quickly changes direction and displays speed moving in every area. Instinctive, quick locating the ball and shows speed in pursuit. Fires outside-in against the run, quickly arrives on the scene and plays with a nasty attitude. Fluid in his backpedal, gets depth on pass drops and remains disciplined with assignments. Fast up the field and sells out on the blitz. Possesses a terrific closing burst and plays with great suddenness.
Neg:
Inefficient and doesn’t always take proper angles to the action. Needs a free shot to the ball, as he's easily blocked.
Analysis:
Jones has size and growth limitations but is a tremendous pursuit linebacker with a physical game. In the proper system he will produce as a nickel linebacker, and Jones comes with a special-teams mentality.
