Bio:
Four-year starter who earned Third Team All-ACC honors in 2016. Limited to nine games in 2014 due to a season-ending left ankle injury. Earned Freshman All-American consideration in 2013.
Pos:
Underrated college tackle who also offers potential at guard. Quickly sets up off the snap, stays square and rides defenders from the action with good hand punch. Effectively uses body positioning to seal defenders from the action. Quick out to the second level, disrupts linebackers from their angle of attack and works through the whistle. Keeps his head on a swivel and effectively picks up the blitz.
Neg:
Lacks footwork and lateral blocking range. Does not sink his butt at the line of scrimmage or block with consistent knee bend.
Analysis:
McLaughlin has been an afterthought in the scouting community the past three years despite being a consistent lineman on the college level. He has areas in his game which need improvement, but the versatility to line up at several spots on the offensive line could help him find a place as an inexpensive backup.
