Bio:
Four-year starter who earned Second Team All-SWAC honors in 2016 and First Team All-SWAC honors as a freshman. Missed two games as a senior due to injury. Finished his career with 77 receptions for 1,411 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Pos:
Athletic tight end prospect who has shown the ability to pick up big yardage as a pass catcher. Stays square blocking, plays with proper pad level and shows strength at the point. Fluid releasing off the line of scrimmage, nicely adjusts to the errant throw and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Gets vertical over defenders and competes to come away with the difficult or contested reception. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, plays with balance and gives effort. Sturdy pass catcher who takes a pounding but holds onto the ball.
Neg:
Lacks blocking intensity when the play is away from him. Really doesn’t play to his 40 time. Average strength as a blocker.
Analysis:
Dorsey is sized well, comes with growth potential and has the base athleticism to line up as a move tight end. He needs to continue developing his game before he’s NFL-ready but is worth considering for a practice squad this fall.
