Bio:
Two-year starter who made 38 tackles and broke up one pass in 2017. Posted 22 tackles and two pass breakups as a junior. Combined for 21 tackles and two PBUs in his first two seasons at Georgia.
Pos:
Large, gap-occupying defensive lineman with limited playmaking ability. Big-bodied defender who keeps his feet moving and works his hands. Plays with good lean, can be a load to handle and does a terrific job holding his ground. Fires off the snap and shows good initial quickness.
Neg:
Displays marginal closing burst. Plays like a poor athlete. Only effective in a small area and can’t get down the line of scrimmage in pursuit of the action.
Analysis:
Atkins watched his game take off last season and went from draft afterthought to possible late-round choice. He’s a potential zero-technique tackle who can play on the nose or in a one-gap system.
