Pos:
Two-year starter who began his college career at Georgia. Led Mississippi State with 99 tackles last season. Tough, explosive safety who craves physical contact. Fires up the field, sells out to make plays and flies around the action. Displays suddenness and flashes out of nowhere to make the play. Keeps the action in front of him, plays with an intimidating style and goes after opponents. Plays heads-up football, remains disciplined with assignments and instinctively reads the action. Possesses a solid closing burst, drives his shoulders through ball carriers and tackles well in the open field. Stays with receivers on crossing patterns, locates the pass in the air and works to defend the throw. Displays solid range and the ability to get outside the numbers to make plays.
Neg:
Slowed by a shoulder injury last season. Better facing the action than with his back to the ball. Must consistently wrap up ball carriers rather than try to knock them down. Cannot burst to the ball out of his plant.
Analysis:
Abram is a nice-sized, explosive safety who is best against the run and shows skill in zone coverage. He can line up in a zone system or as a conventional strong safety at the next level and could be a starter in the NFL for a very long time.
