Bio:
Four-year starter who earned Second Team All-SEC honors in his final three seasons at Florida. Led the SEC in punting average as both a junior and a senior. Averaged 47.6 yards per punt in 2017 and 47.9 yards per punt in 2016. Averaged 45.4 yards per punt as a sophomore. Redshirted the 2014 season. Started six games as a true freshman and averaged 42 yards per punt.
Pos:
Strong-legged kicker with the ability to flip the field. Punts explode off his foot. Gets excellent hang time on the ball and kicks his team out of a jam. Consistently gives coverage units enough time to get downfield and make plays.
Neg:
Slow to get the ball off his foot. One-dimensional and cannot handle kickoff duties.
Analysis:
Townsend is a nice-sized punter with good upside but will need work on his game before he’s NFL-ready.
