Bio:
One-year starter who totaled 10 touchdowns (three rushing), threw for 930 yards and rushed for 336 yards as a senior before a knee injury cut his season short after five games. Posted 21 total touchdowns (12 rushing) and 2,767 total yards (1,012 rushing) in 2016. Suffered a season-ending knee injury early in his sophomore season.
Pos:
Relatively accurate passer whose development was slowed by numerous injuries. Patient in the pocket, naturally looks off the safety and knows where receivers are on the field. Challenges in the vertical game, displays a sense of timing and does not make receivers wait on the ball. Relatively accurate and shows the ability to get passes through tight spots. Effectively picks up yardage with his legs on designed runs.
Neg:
Takes a while to get the ball away and lacks a quick release. Does not have a big body of work as a passer.
Analysis:
Ertz is a relatively athletic quarterback with a decent arm and next-level accuracy but is a work in progress. His inability to stay healthy is a major red flag, though Ertz should receive practice-squad consideration this fall.
