Bio:
Junior college transfer who started two seasons with the Blue Raiders. Named First Team All-Conference USA in 2016 after making 64 tackles (four for loss) with three interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors as a junior despite missing two games with a sprained ankle, posting 31 tackles (three for loss) with three interceptions, one sack and 13 PBUs.
Pos:
Tall, thin corner who flashes cover skills. Aggressive, physical and works hard to get involved in the action. Willingly defends the run and mixes it up with opponents throughout the route. Gets his head back around, locates the pass in the air and positions himself against receivers to defend the throw. Has a closing burst, plays big football and works to knock away the throw.
Neg:
Slow flipping his hips in transition and loses a half-step off the line. Falls asleep on occasion and blows assignments. Deep speed is an issue as he doesn’t play to his 40 time.
Analysis:
Cutrer offers size and enough ball skills to make a roster as a ninth defensive back who can lineup in dime packages for a zone system.
