Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-Southland honors and led the conference with 5,003 passing yards and 45 touchdowns while completing 57.9 percent of his passes and throwing 16 interceptions as a senior. Named Southland Offensive Player of the Year and led the conference with a 62.6 percent completion rate, 4,602 passing yards and 57 touchdown passes while throwing 10 picks in 2016. Split time at quarterback in and completed 54.9 percent of his passes for 1,883 yards, 14 touchdowns and five INTs as a sophomore. Transferred from UAB following the 2014 season.
Pos:
Nice-sized pocket passer with a next-level arm. Patient, goes through progressions and will take the secondary target rather than put the ball up for grabs. Puts air under deep throws, lets receivers run to the ball and throws with an over-the-top delivery. Possesses enough arm strength to get the ball through tight spots and displays a quick release.
Neg:
Does not always find defensive backs. Occasionally releases the ball off his back foot. Late with his throws and can be all over the place with his accuracy. Comes off a serious injury.
Analysis:
Briscoe possesses the underlying ability to play at the next level but must get healthy and improve his timing. If he passes medicals, he’s worth keeping on a practice squad.
