Bio:
Two-year starter named First Team All-Big Ten as a junior in 2015 after making 50 receptions for 764 yards and nine touchdowns. Had 35 catches for 500 yards and two touchdowns as a senior.
Pos:
One-time highly rated receiver coming off a disappointing season. Displays good awareness, on the same page as his quarterback and uses his frame to shield away defenders. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, lays out or extends to make the tough grab and consistently looks the ball into his hands. Makes the tough catch in contorted positions, fights defensive backs to separate and displays a sense of timing in his game.
Neg:
One speed skill player with a minimal burst. Unnecessarily let the pass get inside him last season and did too much body catching.
Analysis:
Chesson was highly rated entering the 2016 campaign but played pedestrian football and is dropping down draft boards. He offers terrific computer numbers but must play to them on every down basis and quickly get his game back on track for any chance of making it out of camp this summer.
