Bio:
Junior college transfer who started both his seasons at Maryland. Made 40 tackles, tied for the team lead with three interceptions and broke up seven passes in 2017. Posted 40 tackles, one interception and six PBUs as a sophomore. Dismissed from Florida after being charged with four felony counts stemming from a home invasion and robbery in April 2015 and transferred to Riverside Community College. Was eventually found not guilty on all charges. Redshirted after suffering a season-ending injury in his debut as a true freshman with the Gators.
Pos:
Nice-sized cover corner with next-level ball skills. Fluid flipping his hips to run with opponents off the line, stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks and has an excellent closing burst. Plays heads-up football, tracks the pass in the air and shows a nice move to the ball. Sticks with receivers around the field and displays excellent hands for the interception.
Neg:
Late reacting to receivers’ moves at the line of scrimmage. Has a thin build and struggles against larger wideouts.
Analysis:
After bouncing around early in his career, Jackson found a home at Maryland the past two seasons and displayed consistent progress. He offers size and growth potential and has the underlying skills to line up in nickel packages as a rookie and eventually develop into a starter on Sundays.
