Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2016 after leading the conference with 120 tackles, including seven for loss, and racking up 2.5 sacks, three interceptions and six pass breakups. Started nine games after replacing an injured Myles Jack in the starting lineup as a junior and led the team with 93 tackles.
Pos:
Terrific three-down linebacker with size limitations. Instinctive, quickly anticipates the action and displays a sense of timing. Efficient, terrific in pursuit and takes proper angles to the action. Displays solid lateral speed, cuts off the corners in the run game and fires up the field filling gaps against the run. Plays bigger than his listed size, goes hard sideline-to-sideline and is quick to throw his pads into the pile. Agile, quickly changes direction and nicely redirects to the play. Shows speed in pursuit, sells out to make plays and is constantly around the action. Gets depth on pass drops and shows ability in zone coverage.
Neg:
Small and out-positioned from the action. Controlled by blocks. Loses out to bigger tight ends.
Analysis:
Brown displayed consistent progress in his game the past three seasons at UCLA and is a terrific combination of athleticism as well as instincts. Size is a limiting factor, but Brown will produce in the right system at the next level.
