Bio:
Four-year starter who was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017. Led the conference with 19 tackles for loss and 13 sacks and made 56 tackles with a team-high three forced fumbles as a senior. Topped the conference with 21 tackles for loss and 13 sacks and added 57 tackles and one forced fumble as a junior. Earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors, led the conference with 8.5 sacks and tied for the Sun Belt lead with four forced fumbles while making 37 tackles in 2015. Started seven games and led Arkansas State with 12 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks while making 30 tackles and forcing two fumbles before suffering a season-ending injury as a freshman. Redshirted the 2013 season after suffering an undisclosed preseason injury.
Pos:
Disruptive pass rusher who’s a bit of a ‘tweener. Breaks down well, plays with outstanding leverage and effectively uses his hands. Displays strong punch with the ability to knock blockers back off the line. Displays good change of direction, easily alters his angle of attack and quickly pursues from the back side to catch ball carriers. Rarely off his feet, plays with balance and body control and can be effective out of a three-point stance or standing over tackle. Strong for his size, easily bends off the edge and makes a lot of positive plays. Attracts double-team blocks based on his ability to disrupt plays.
Neg:
Lacks size and bulk. Easily controlled at the point by a single blocker. Rarely used in space and was mostly asked to make plays up the field. Ran poorly at the combine.
Analysis:
Rolland-Jones is liked throughout the scouting community and projects as a situational pass rusher who is best suited to stand over tackle at the next level.
