Bio:
Two-year starter who missed all but the team’s bowl game in 2015 after tearing his MCL in August. Returned in 2016 to make 45 tackles (11 for loss) with two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. Posted 40 tackles (7.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and seven quarterback hurries in 2014. Started one game as a sophomore and totaled 20 tackles and one sack.
Pos:
Large, somewhat athletic defensive line prospect with a streaky game. Big-bodied lineman who works his hands throughout the action and nicely redirects to the ball handler. Flashes upper-body strength and the ability to easily discard blockers. Explosive, tough to handle and can be a disruptive force. Possesses nice length as well as bulk.
Neg:
Plays tall, displays minimal power in his lower body and gets stood up at the point. Not nearly as athletic as most believe. Inconsistent with his hands. Average production in college.
Analysis:
Entering the season Jones was stamped as a potential first-round pick but showed a lot of inconsistency on the field. He possesses the size to develop into a starter at the next level but needs to improve every aspect of his game and stop relying on natural ability.
