Pos:
Well-traveled quarterback who comes off a disappointing senior campaign. Displays excellent size, intangibles and a next-level arm. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers and does not have pass catchers waiting on the ball. Remains poised and possesses a quick release as well as a strong arm. Can escape the rush and elude defenders and keeps his eyes downfield. Makes proper decisions in the pocket, doesn't force passes and gets rid of the ball if nothing is available. Loses nothing on throws on the move and always knows where his receivers are on the field. Sells ball fakes, sets up screen throws and puts touch on passes when necessary. Goes to the safe underneath outlet if nothing else is available. Flashes the ability to drive the deep throw and put the ball in front of receivers.
Neg:
Not a threat with his legs. Did not seem to be on the same page as his receivers last season. Must improve his corner and fade patterns. Often holds the ball too long in the pocket and showed indecision last season.
Analysis:
While part of Stidham's problem last year was the poor offensive line and running game at Auburn, he compounded the situation by showing indecision and a lack of ball placement. He possesses next-level size and displayed NFL starter ability during both the 2017 season and the Senior Bowl, but he needs time and proper coaching to further develop his game.
