Bio:
Two-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and started 12 games at center as a junior. Earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors and made 11 starts in 2016. Started two games as a true freshman.
Pos:
Slightly undersized but explosive center most effective in motion. Fires off the snap into blocks, stays square and turns defenders from the action. Bends his knees and blocks with leverage. Effective with his hands and stays square to out-position opponents from the play. Shows great awareness and blocking vision and has a feel for the position. Keeps his feet moving and moves well in space. Fires out to the second level and removes linebackers from the action. Relatively athletic and shows the ability to get into the secondary and annihilate defensive backs.
Neg:
Must improve his playing strength and the power of his base. Rarely finishes blocks. Could improve his blocking balance.
Analysis:
Daniels is an underrated center prospect who showed consistent progress the past two seasons. He’s an athletic zone blocker with growth potential and an underclassman who should only get better as he physically matures.
