Bio:
Graduate transfer who rushed 91 times for 396 yards and one touchdown and missed four games with a dislocated elbow during his lone season at Iowa. One-year starter at Nevada who was named Honorable Mention All-Mountain West in each of his final two seasons with the Wolfpack. Rushed for 1,336 yards and 12 touchdowns on 260 carries and caught 37 passes for 381 yards and three TDs in 2016. Carried 208 times for 1,345 yards and 10 scores as a sophomore. Posted 635 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 140 carries as a true freshman.
Pos:
Former All-Mountain West running back who did well in a limited role at Iowa last season. Patient carrying the ball, does a terrific job following blocks and possesses the agility necessary to turn the corner. Keeps his feet moving on contact and works runs. Helps the quarterback sell ball fakes, catches the ball effectively out of the backfield and snatches passes away from his frame.
Neg:
One-speed ball carrier who lacks burst. Doesn’t pick up yardage off initial contact.
Analysis:
After a solid career at Nevada, Butler did well as a backup for the Hawkeyes last season and can make an NFL roster as a situational ball carrier.
