Tall, angular receiver with upside. Nice-sized target, uses his frame to shield defenders and protect the pass and tracks the ball in the air. Effectively times his receptions, shows the ability to snatch the ball from the air and takes a big hit yet holds onto the throw. Quickly gets into pass routes, comes back to the ball to make himself an available target and knows where he is on the field.
Inconsistent and drops a lot of catchable throws. Struggles in battles when he shouldn’t. Lacks a second gear and deep speed.
Staples has flashed skill throughout his college career and comes with a good degree of upside but must quickly pull the pieces together and consistently produce to have a career at the next level.
