Strong, sturdy safety with poor speed. Quick up the field, sells out defending the run and drives through tackles. Keeps the action in front of him, wraps up ball handlers and a secure open field tackler. Displays a sense of timing and anticipation of pass defenses, gets vertical then knocks the ball away.
Possesses average ball skills. Lacks long speed, does a lot of chasing down the field and not quick to close. Lacks a quick change of direction. Exploited throughout Shrine Game practices.
Carter is a tough, hard-hitting safety with limited speed. He could lineup as a conventional strong safety and plays with a special-teams mentality.
