Bio:
Two-year starter who made 41 tackles, broke up 11 passes and intercepted one pass as a senior. Missed the final three games of his junior season due to rib and lung injuries, making 27 tackles (3.5 for loss) with three interceptions and three pass breakups on his way to Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. Ranked second in the Big Ten with a 28.2 kick return average as a sophomore and scored two touchdowns, one on a kick return and the other on an interception return.
Pos:
Athletic college cornerback with a spotty game. Fast, stays step for step with receivers down the field and on crossing patterns and effectively times pass defenses. Has a nice move to the throw, gives effort defending the run and sells out on the blitz. Quick flipping his hips in transition and battles throughout the route. Effective facing the action and displays an explosive burst to the ball. Occasionally used to return punts.
Neg:
Struggles in man-to-man coverage situations and does a lot of face-guarding. Has issues tracking the ball in the air unless he’s facing the action. Played poorly during the Shrine Game.
Analysis:
From a size/speed perspective, Myrick has the physical skills to play at the next level, but he shows limitations in his game. Best backed off the line of scrimmage or in zone coverage, he could make a roster as a ninth defensive back if he plays well on special teams.
