Pos:
Disruptive college pass rusher who gets the most from his ability but has marginal upside at the next level. Disciplined, instinctive and stays with the action. Moves fluidly about the field and displays quick change of direction and the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack. Plays faster than his 40 time, shows speed in backside pursuit and chases the action. Breaks down well, plays with good knee bend and has long arms that he uses effectively. Vicious pass rusher, rarely off his feet and fires off the snap with a quick first step out of a three-point stance.
Neg:
Easily blocked at the point of attack or locked up by opponents. Can be a liability against the run. Average speed.
Analysis:
Jelks was highly rated by some before the season, and while he gives terrific effort, he lacks top athleticism for the next level and may be tapped out. He projects as a situational pass rusher who can stand over tackle or come out of a three-point stance and should add value on special teams.
